Robotics Club will be formed in 300 schools of the future: Palak
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has expressed hope that robotics activation programs will be organized in 64 districts next year and robotics workshops will be organized in 8 divisional cities and 300 schools of future will be built by 2022.
He said that robotics clubs will be set up in 300 schools of the future with teachers, parents and students where hands-on training will be imparted and children will be introduced to the skills required to deal with the Fourth Industrial Revolution such as Arduino, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence.
The state minister expressed such desire in his speech as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2021 held online on Monday.
He called upon the Bangladesh Computer Council to take necessary steps to organize a robotics fair in 2022 across the country with the theme ‘Robotics- a necessity not luxury’. The state minister also promised to encourage young students and researchers, including funding, to make more use of robots in activities that endanger human lives. Zunaid Ahmed Palak also said that a robotics festival will be held in the country next year.
Computer Council President Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan presided over the ceremony where Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal, Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education); Professor Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Hasan Babu, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dhaka University and Founder Chairman, Department of Robotics; Dr. Shamim Ahmed Dewan, Chairman of Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, Dhaka University and Shahid-ul-Munir, President of Bangladesh Computer Society spoke.
The program was conducted by Dr. Lafifa Jamal, President of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad and Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, Dhaka University.
